Your Vital Needs

What is it that you need?…

It’s not just the turn of the clock that stirs us as time passes, it’s also the change of the earth.

As we see the leaves going from green to yellow to brown, we note the chill settling in and feel connected to the natural cycle of things.

Winter is for drawing in. A restorative process of connecting back to our vital needs. Replenishing our energy in preparation for new growth to come in spring.

Seasonal Changes

Awakens us to our needs in both our inner and outer world ecologies.

Just like the plants and the animals, it is imperative to our sense of wellbeing that we cycle through the seasons with nature as our guide. As we approach the winter solstice here in the southern hemisphere, it is evident that nature is preparing for the great reset.

Trees are bare, the soil is damp and cold, the sun is further away casting less light. The air is crisp and animals retreat to their natural homes to burrow down and reserve their energy.

This drawing in is essential to weather the natural cycle of winter, the restorative season.

Coming Home

Connecting back within.

In this time of restoration, it is an opportunity to create the space to reflect and consider what is it you need. Start by asking yourself, “How do I want my life to be?” How does it look currently? How does it feel? Does something need to change?

Our lives are experienced through both our inner world needs and outer world needs being met. What we need is to feel self-worth, loveable, and that we are enough. This is central to how we feel about ourselves, our world around us, and whether we believe we can handle what happens.

Part of how we restore ourselves; our true self, is to know, live and nurture our needs.

KNOW YOU ARE ENOUGH

The journey is within you.

There are two types of needs:

Inner World Needs

What we need within us, regardless of what’s going on around us.

Our inner world needs ~ What we need to have within us, regardless of what’s going on around us.

  • GRATITUDE

We need the sense of Gratitude. We need to know that this moment, as it is, is enough. To learn to appreciate this moment is a certain way to fulfil our need for appreciation. Only we can give ourselves this need and it is a choice. When we feel a sense of gratitude and appreciation for this moment, then the feeling of emptiness fades.

  • HEALTHY BOUNDARIES

Each of us need to develop our own blueprint for what we value, and our boundaries around that. To live in our truth is to feel a sense of self-worth. Healthy Boundaries are essential towards honouring our true self.

  • EMOTIONAL MASTERY

Emotional Mastery is the pathway to resilience, tenacity and grit. To restore ourself requires restoring our emotional mastery. To have the ability to manage our emotions, we can trust ourselves to handle what is going to happen.

  • PROGRESS

A sense of progress, of growth, is vital for our self-esteem and for restoring our true-self. To do this, we must be willing to challenge our own status quo about what we believe, what we think matters, what we focus on, what we do, and the decisions we make.

Outer World Needs

What we need to experience when we interact with the world around us

Our outer world needs ~ What we need to EXPERIENCE WHEN WE INTERACT WITH THE WORLD AROUND US

  • STABILITY

When we neglect our basic survival needs, we place ourselves under undue stress, which then distracts us from getting on with the choices that can give us a more fulfilling life.

This includes to have; Certainty of home, Stability of finances, Certainty of tribe, Certainty of health.

  • TO MATTER

It’s not enough to have family, friends and colleagues, we must know that we are significant, and that we matter, that we are important to them.

  • sense of individuality

To be seen, validated and accepted as we are is a big part of our mental health needs.

  • TO BE LOVED

We all need to know that we can rely on and count on being cherished by someone else.

The dance between the Inner and Outer World

What is with us, is reflected to us, by our outside world. Who we are is shown to us by the world around us, and the experiences we attract, and repeatedly seem to have.

“It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they actually are in themselves” ~ Carl Jung

How well we are able to fulfil our inner world needs will shape how we perceive the world around us.
